ECSD Gets Help with Using Data to Improve Student Performance

Whether planning needed professional development or evaluating the effectiveness of instructional practices and curriculum or a host of other decisions, knowing our students well on a regular basis and studying their achievement data will help determine the best way Edgefield County School District (ECSD) proceeds.

ECSD is partnering with Performance Matters, a national leader in data analytics. “Basing the decisions we make as educators on data and not intuition is critical. Performance Matters provides the expertise, software, and training to help our teachers and administration take actions that will improve learning for all our students,” explained Dr. Kevin O’Gorman, superintendent. “We’ve always had data. The problem has been quickly getting it in the hands of the people who make instructional decisions. Performance Matters simply helps us organize data quickly and efficiently so that we can spend more time working on planning for the needs of our students than trying to interpret large data sets,” continued O’Gorman.    Read More
