ECSD Embraces Personalized Learning

ECSD recently surveyed  teachers and students to gauge their perceptions and practices in the areas of “Learner Focused,” “Learner Led,” and “Learner Demonstrated” teaching and learning. Though personalized learning is still a new, evolving approach, research says it makes students more confident, understood and appropriately challenged—which leads, of course, to better performance. And this isn’t exclusive to struggling learners, or learners who need to move faster: wherever they start, all students reach new heights with personalized learning.

Teachers and administrators are analyzing the survey results to determine strategies to implement in order for all students to learn and grow more effectively. Teacher behaviors the survey addressed were: knowledge of student interests abilities and needs, advocating for needed support, co-designing learning experiences, monitoring, reflecting and assessing progress, and collaborating with others to achieve goals. The survey will be re-administered in the Spring in order to measure progress.
