Telehealth Continued

Telehealth continued

School-based telehealth is available in all seven schools in Edgefield County School District with services provided by Peach Tree Medical Center, W. Hugh Morgan Family Practice, and MUSC Children’s Health for sick visits and chronic disease management such as asthma.

School-based telehealth is a convenient way for students to receive high quality healthcare in the school setting without having to miss school, or their parent and guardians missing work. The school nurse examines the student while connected to a provider, using telehealth technologies. The telemedicine cart is enabled with high definition cameras, electronic stethoscopes and other peripherals allowing the school nurse and the connected provider to talk and share information in real-time.

Parents and guardians interested in learning more or enrolling their student in the program should visit www.sctelehealth.org/schools.The Medical University of South Carolina is the headquarters of the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance.
