Literacy continued

  The goal for the district’s leadership is to develop students, parents, and teachers’ awareness of Lexiles and how they are used to drive learning and instruction. Any text can be analyzed and assigned a Lexile score. The skills and strategies for reading differ depending on the Lexile (reading) level of the text.

  “One of my goals is to increase the literacy levels of all our district’s students. Our school board made this task a priority, but they realize the process will take a couple of years to accomplish,” said Dr. Kevin O’Gorman, ECSD superintendent. “The work our district’s leaders are completing is laying the foundation for where we are headed and the milestones along the way,” continued O’Gorman.   

  The district’s leadership will continue their work on Lexiles for the remainder of the academic year to lay the foundation for introducing and implementing the strategies district wide in the ’20-’21 school year.
