My name is Fran Altringer and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Strom Thurmond High School. I am extremely proud and excited to join the Edgefield County school community and to support our students and their families.

I am in the middle of my 28th year in education. My career began here at STHS as a high school math teacher.  Most of my twenty-eight years were spent in Aiken County as a teacher, coordinator, assistant principal, and high school principal. I am thrilled to be back at Strom Thurmond and am dedicated to helping our students attain post-graduate success. I know how valuable these years are both as an educator and as a parent.

My husband and I have two daughters and two sons: a 23 year-old who teaches high school English, a 21 year-old nursing student at USCA, a 17 year-old high school senior and a 16 year-old high school junior.

I am excited to begin this journey with all of you, and to lead alongside the great teachers and staff at a school full of rich traditions.
