W.E. PARKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FIRST GRADE CELEBRATES 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL WITH FASHION SHOW

Johnston, SC – Mackenzie Wells was an absolute vision in red, black and white as she strode confidently down the red carpet.

The W.E. Parker Elementary first-grader smiled as she modeled her “100 Days of School” shirt complete with sparkling red and clear crystals, bedazzled hearts and red roses and streamers. The gathered paparazzi (her first grade classmates and teachers) showered her with “oohs” and “aahs” and clapped their hands as she made her way down the red carpet.

She had chosen a heart theme for her shirt because she has such a big heart, her teacher, Ronda Cato, told everyone. Mackenzie was just one of the first of the Parker Pride students to officially celebrate the 100th Day of School on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

“We decided we would let our kids decorate their own shirts for the one hundredth day of school with whatever items they wanted to use and we would have a fashion show so they could all walk down and show off their one hundredth day of school creations,” stated W.E. Parker Elementary first grade teacher, Lindsi Rhodes.

When they were not on the red carpet themselves, students sat alongside and shined the spotlight, quite literally, on their classmates as they shouted encouragement.

The 100th Day of School is a significant milestone each school year as it marks a time beyond the halfway point of the year when only 80 instructional days remain before the summer break.

“We have reached the one hundredth day of school and our kids are 100 days smarter,” Rhodes added.

Students Amber Reynolds and Kamalei Sanders were unabashed in their praise and excitement for the fashion show.

“It was fantastic!”
