Johnston, SC – The Edgefield County School District (ECSD) is thrilled to recognize and honor the many tremendous contributions of its 26 building custodians on 2022 ECSD School Custodian Appreciation Day.

School and office custodians ensure floors are swept, mopped and waxed, classrooms and restrooms are kept clean and carpets are vacuumed. They remove waste and recyclables and help set up chairs and tables and take them down for many school-based events, among many other duties each day.  

“Our custodians are an outstanding group of professionals who go above and beyond what is required to ensure our learning spaces are clean and maintained for all students and staff,” stated Edgefield County School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin O’Gorman. “We appreciate all they do for our school district.”

Our school and building custodians have over 230 years of combined service to ECSD. They include the following individuals:

Johnson; Strom Thurmond High School head custodian James Mathis and custodians Shantel Ryan, Leila Brown, Dominick Stone, William Miller, Deric Jones, Michael D.
