CLASS OF 2023 STROM THURMOND HIGH SENIOR PROFILE: ELIZA HOLMES
Johnston, SC - If Eliza Holmes looks a little familiar to you, there is a very good reason why.
At some point over the last couple of years, it is highly likely she has served you with a juicy cheeseburger, some crispy fries and a cold soda at the Edgefield Pool Room, where she served as a host and server.
Serving others just comes naturally to Strom Thurmond High School's Class of 2023 Salutatorian.
It's why she's chosen to pursue a career in nursing, and why she has served as a junior counselor at Camp Gravatt in Aiken County the past two summers. For Eliza, giving of yourself is one of life's greatest callings.
While she has personified excellence in the community, Eliza has also done that in the classroom and the field of competition as a student-athlete at Strom Thurmond High School, where she was named as an Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2023.
Eliza has provided future Rebels with an academic, athletic and community model to aspire to.

Memorable Moment(s) at STHS: “I had the opportunity to serve as the President of HOSA, which was really fun. I enjoy leadership roles and we volunteered and did a lot of community service this year and that’s something I’m really proud of. I was also on the swim team, and I enjoyed that as well. Being able to attend Girls State was really cool and I appreciated the opportunity to serve as a Girls State delegate.”
Advice to Rising Seniors: “Get involved as much as possible in those leadership opportunities and don’t forget to live in the moment and enjoy your life right now.”
What or Who Has Inspired you? “My parents and family for sure. I believe you work hard and play hard. My mom is a nurse, so she taught me a lot about that field. You get out what you put into something. If you put a lot of effort into something, you will see the benefits.”
How many cheeseburgers and fries would you estimate you’ve served while working at the Edgefield Pool Room? “Oh wow! It has to be over a thousand. Maybe over 2,000 now that I think about it? Too many to count. I’ve been working there for two years. My last shift was actually last night (May 16th) so that was a bittersweet moment. I spent some of the formative years of my life there. It’s been a big part of my high school career and I gained a lot of confidence working there and just learning how to talk to people. It was great.”
